Hey #Boston, better run fast cause I’m comin’ for ya 💙💛
11 years, 7 months, 9 days. That’s how long my mom fought her battle with breast cancer. I don’t every crisp detail, but I do remember it enough to never want another family to watch what I saw my mom go through.
But talking about it is only half the battle. I’ve decided to actually DO something about it. That’s why this April, I am running the Boston Marathon for @danafarber, the world leader in adult and pediatric cancer research.
No, I’m not a runner. No, I’m not concerned about the time I’ll finish the race in. No, I don’t have a running buddy (but yes, I’m open to finding one) Yes, I’m worried about training in the cold. Yes, I’m terrified of this goal I’ve set for myself & letting the people I love down. But what has come to define it for me is a purpose, & for me that is my mom. I’m a firm believer that anyone can do anything they set their mind to, and I can credit that belief to my mom and dad (@wbcarm1956).
I am so excited for this challenge, both physically and mentally, but I’m more excited about the REAL CHANGE that’s about to happen in the cancer research world because of the DFMC team. Keep your eyes peeled for all the ways you can donate to this awesome cause — starting with the link in my bio.
It’s go time, baby. The sky’s the limit.
