First time in too long I managed to fit my weights, pilates and cardio sessions all into the one week. 💪🏃‍♀️ Progressed to 800m jog, 200 walk x 4, then 1km jog. . Yesterday marked two years since my ACL replacement surgery and I still haven't played a single game of basketball since. I'm almost eight months post-partum and still 10kg overweight. I had PT again today. First time in 2 weeks. I get anxious and nervous the few days leading up to my appointment EVERY TIME. _ Did I made progress? What if I have another setback? Will my PT to say I’m ready to try new things...and will I be able to do them? pain free? THIS JOURNEY IS NOT EASY!!! _ I know it doesn’t always seem like it from the outside looking in, because I’m still in the fight and pushing through every day. (I try to be real and show more than just the highlight reel) But, I have moments, even full days, where ALL the negative thoughts come flooding in. Doubting myself. My abilities. Insecurities. Fear of failure. _ I’ve learned that I have to work my brain just as hard as I do my body. Mental fitness is just as important, if not more important, than the physical. (Something I learned and started working on after becoming a coach. I didn’t go into coaching with it all figured out. Still don’t have it all figured out 😂) _ You might be at your goal weight, or size, or the best player on the field, or consistent with your workouts. However you want to measure it, but if you don’t feel good about yourself and your accomplishments, that other stuff doesn’t matter. You still won’t be happy. _ Since becoming a coach, I’ve added in reading or listening to audio books that help change your thinking, writing down positive thoughts and affirmations to focus on, visualizing how I want the day to go. _ And, it’s not a 1 time thing. I have to keep working on my mind or I will lose my progress, just like I would if I stopped working out. _ You can join me on this journey of taking care of our bodies and our minds. In my opinion, finding an individualized limb occlusion pressure (LOP) is important to perform safe and effective #bloodflowrestriction training. Too much pressure can be dangerous and too little pressure will be ineffective. In the clinic, we use a Doppler to find LOP which allows me to quantify pressures and track progress. I also want to be as accurate as possible with any of my patients with contraindications. For healthy individuals, they may choose to use #bfr without guidance which is totally safe if done correctly. I posted a video on my @youtube channel (link in bio) on how to find the upper extremity LOP using the radial pulse without a Doppler. Tomorrow I’ll post the lower extremity technique for LOP. His grandpa is an ortho surgeon and Fox himself used to sport a cane about a decade ago… he's also the one who told me 10 days before recon - avoid surgery if you're walking fine. Little piece I wrote on hamstring training for @physionetwork . 5 ways to bulletproof the hamstrings 🔥 ⁣ ⁣ 1. Regular and graded exposure to high speed running (aim to hit max velocity 2 x a week; sprints over 30-50m to ensure max velocity is reached; and total sprint distance per session around 100-300m depending on your current tolerance to sprinting) 🏃‍♂️ ⁣ ⁣ 2. Proper running mechanics - don’t overstride which puts excess stress on the hamstring, and avoid excessive pelvic motion during running as dropping into anterior pelvic tilt also puts extra stress on the hamstrings (this is why a lumbopelvic stability program can work well) 🏃‍♀️ ⁣ ⁣ 3. Strengthen the hammies in a variety of ways: 💪 ⁣ -eccentrically e.g. Nordics ⁣ -isometrically e.g. long lever hamstring bridge holds ⁣ -at low velocity e.g. Nordics, Romanian deadlifts ⁣ -at high velocity e.g. Romanian deadlift drop and catches, glute ham drop and catch, long lever hamstring switches ⁣ -in hip dominant movements e.g. Romanian deadlifts⁣ -in knee dominant movements e.g. Nordics, leg curls⁣ ⁣ 4. Ensure training is planned well - e.g. try to avoid high speed running exposure on the same day after gym. Try get sprinting done before gym or put it on the next day. This is because sprinting after lower body gym work can increase the risk of hamstring strains as the lower limb muscles are fatigued 🗓⁣ ⁣ 5. Check out Sasha in her stifle orthotic for the first time! 👏🏼❤️ . Sasha presented to our physical rehabilitation team with evidence of a left ACL tear. Her parents chose not to repair the ACL tear with surgery, so Dr. Block helped them move forward with a stifle orthotic, which helps stabilize an ACL tear.

Fél év alatt a második.. az okát még mindig nem tudom, hogy miért pont velem történt meg ez. Minden kezdődik elölről, napi 8 óra rehab 6 hónapon keresztül. Úgy érzem az első rehabnál is odatettem magam, csak ennek éltem. Bármennyire is nehéz lesz most is 100%-ot fogok beleadni. ACL rehab - knee extension —— My policy for range of motion is fairly simple, get all of it back. I’ve seen too many cases of athletes being told their extension is “good enough” or that zero degrees means they’re at full range. If one knee has 5 degrees of extension, why is it that we’re ok with the ACL knee never reaching that point? —— I personally believe not regaining full extension doesn’t allow for the quad to regain full strength, can alter running mechanics and puts the athlete at risk for re-injury. When I get a fresh post op patient, I emphasize the importance of knee extension and I want them to work on range of motion at least 5 times a day. Educate the patient on why it’s important so they understand the significance. —— Here is an extension exercise I like to use. Plank with opposite leg lift - you’ll notice I added an ankle weight to the back of the knee to increase demand on the quad. The quads are squeezing to keep her knee straight the entire time. I’ll typically do this for 4-5 leg raises and have them rest and repeat. A variation is to have them squeeze their quads to raise their knee and go back down without a hold for more reps. —— 🧠𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗵𝗮𝗯? Day 165: Few updates from the last few days. I had physio on Tuesday and I was still feeling exhausted from a tough weekend therefore yesterday I had a proper rest day, after work I had a nice long nap, chilled in the evening and just did some stretching and had an early night. This morning I felt soooooo much better and meant I could have a really productive physio session 💪 We were working on some stability and landing. Started off in a lunge on a bosu ball and my physio would push me with one of the big inflatable balls from different angles and I had to focus on keeping in position. We then did the same whilst in a squat position - even doing it with eyes closed so I wouldn’t know which direction the push would come from. We then did the same where I would be doing fast feet and then progressed to fast feet including jumps. As I would jump, or when in the air I would get a push and have to land and quickly come back to starting position with fast feet. It felt GREAT as it is so relevant to footy. I really didnt think at 6 months I would already be doing some “chaotic” landing training 💪 🤩 After physio headed to the gym and was working on my HAMMIES, physio said my quads are in a good place so need to start more work on my hammies so here are videos of the exercises I did today (potentially need a bit of correcting on the first one).... ——————————- We found out that the Euro Cup (AFL EuropE 9 aside competition) is on the 6th June next year which is in 6 months tomorrow and 12 days before my 1 year operation anniversary. My physio is confident I’ll be ready to play by then however I’m not going to set my expectations too high. I will keep working as hard as I am now and see what the next few months bring. I would love to pull the England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 kit on after missing the last 2 Euro Cups! ——————- Lesson Learned: TAKE THE REST DAYS... it makes you more productive the days after 😊 #aclclub #aclrehab #aclrecovery

SHOOTING AND WARMING UP WITH THE BALL: 5 months post surgery • • Getting power on shots is still difficult because my planting leg is the injured one, so I focus more on accuracy. • • In the second video we’re doing tic tacs and toe taps. These are very simple and easy to do. They’re great for working on ball control and getting your touch back after time off from playing. • • In the last video I’m doing volleys on one leg. These are again great for improving your touch and ball control.
