Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art currently has an exhibit made up of almost 100 daguerrotypes. The most daguerrotypes I've ever seen at one time! I own four daguerrotypes myself, and before seeing this exhibit, those four were the only ones I have ever seen up close and personal.
At this Nelson-Atkins exhibit, they have plenty of the typical portrait daguerrotypes, but they also have more candid shots, landscapes, and even a panoramic daguerrotype! .
This one in particular caught my eye because it is of a man holding his own daguerrotype of his family. There's a deeper story behind this image. He misses his family and wants them in his portrait with him. .
