As we reach the end of the decade I’ve seen people being so beautifully vulnerable about this time and the encouragement would tell themselves 10 years ago. I love the idea so I began to think - 10 years ago I was in 10th grade trudging through the awkward years between girl and woman. If I could go back I would hug myself tightly and say:
You are BEAUTIFUL. Your hair makes you stand out, yes. But only because of how beautifully unique it is. You stand out not only because of it, but also of the light you are. You don’t need to hide behind others out of fear, shine brightly because others look to you for it.
God is with you now and forever. Times are hard and the darkness seems overwhelming, but know the greatest light longs to rest in your heart, and it is right there within reach. One day you will find your identity within it and watch your life unfold in the greatest, unwavering joy because He will be your foundation and closest relationship.
You are WORTHY. Hand crafted by God Himself. Never made in mistake or error, but in perfect intentionality for your soul. Your worth isn’t defined by others, but through God. And I can’t wait for you to feel the warmth of such a love. You will feel it soon. I promise.
What you have to say holds weight. Staying quiet, being passive does you no favor because who you are, the essence of YOU, is a treasure. Share it. People long to hear it. Give yourself grace. Take time to know who you are and how you work because, though you mess up words & take longer to think - it doesn’t mean you’re stupid. You process slower, but you process richly.
You are strong. I promise. I know you don’t feel it, but goodness the growth you’ll find and the strength you’ll uncover will be beyond what you can imagine. Just wait. You are blossoming.
I am so grateful for this decade and the clarity it has shown me. I can only image the stories you could tell as well. I ask, share with me one word this decade revealed to you about YOU. If you could some it up what would it be?
