#MUFC superstar Mason Greenwood shines in the final group match against AZ, as United scored four goals in 11 minutes, to defeat AZ Alkmaar, and secure a 1st place position for the #UEL last 32. 💪🏻💪🏻 After a rather lethargic, tiresome first half display from both teams, with only a couple half chances made, the game came into true fruition. Around the 53rd minute, Andreas produced a quality piece of skill, finding Mata. Mata then crossed the ball into the back post, finding the path of Ashley Young, and smashing it right into the frog of the net, for his first goal since February. 💯💯 Nonetheless, Greenwood stole the show, firing home a powerful strike from the edge of the box, before producing a sensational left-footed finish, right into the bottom right corner.
It was the first time the 18-year-old sensation managed to score two in a senior start, taking his overall goal tally for the season to six. He is now United's leading scorer in Europe this season, and only Marcus Rashford has scored more in all competitions. “The lad’s a natural finisher, he’s always done it,” said #OGS. 💫💫 Separating the double from Mason, the youngster won a penalty in the 60th minute, after a clumsy foul by Clasie, in which Mata converted from the spot, the Spanish midfielder's first goal of the season.
The victory last night was #MUFC’s biggest in Europe since 2016, when they beat another Dutch side, Feyenoord, by the same scoreline, which means they will be avoiding teams such Benfica, Ajax and Inter Milan in Monday's last-32 draw. 🙌🏻🙌🏻 So what do you all make of last nights match?
