It’s a pleasure to share a #BestFICEpractice story from our FICE partner, @cooperaccionperu! This organization adapted the FICE methodology to teach the artisan women they work with to identify three of their main assets which include: the group of artisans, their culture, and nature. By recognizing these assets, these women have gained self-confidence and are more empowered than ever before!
One example of the positive effect of this new sense of empowerment is Yolanda Osorio Yunca, an artisan from Lima, Peru, who won a national contest organized by @mincetur titled "Innovación en la Artesanía: IX Premio Nacional de Diseño de la Artesanía Peruana"! This award will allow her to travel to Mexico to participate in a program sponsored by the Ministry. There she will expose her work and talk about the FICE methodology that has empowered her, as well as listen to other successful Latin-American female artisans.
CooperAcción works with men and women from small communities, social organizations, as well as local and regional governments of Peru in order to achieve sustainable and inclusive development in the country. Here’s to Yolanda and CooperAccion for their great work; it is a pleasure for us to know that the FICE methodology is allowing grassroots organizations to advance one step further towards sustainable social change.
Congratulations to the team, let’s keep moving forward! 💪🏼💙
