A HOME WIN AT LONG LAST.
What a game yesterday was, the fight and determination shown by the team was second to none. After defeats against Arbroath, United and Ayr, points were a must, so the team came out and put on a performance to be proud of.
The game was reasonably uneventful in the first 45 with both team cancelling out each others attacks, but then when a silly red card challenge from Banzo meant we were down to 10-men, everything changed. The team knew something had to done, the team had to prove a point. We couldn't leave another game at Firhill without the 3 points.
The team switched into a higher gear and put on a show to be proud of. Dario got subbed off for Gordon, and within seconds he had provided an impact. Within 30 seconds of being on, Gordon had fired a shot past the Morton keeper, flying in the back of the net and sending the fans into bedlam. Morton fought back though, creating chance until their chance, until an opportunity came through a header from St Mirren Loanee Jack Baird, which he nodded past Foxy.
The team didn't give up though. A cross from the left hand side of the pitch fired high ball across goal, which was tapped in by none other than substitute Shea Gordon. The crowd errupted into chaos, unable to comprehend how a 10-men Thistle team had taken the lead twice against Morton. The defensive shift then began, and the long ball to Mansell was put in place. For the next 2p minutes dominated the game, trying to get an equaliser. But the defence succeeded and we held out, achieving our first home win of the season. What A Performance. 👏🏻
