Charlie’s Angels Review
While not great, it was much better than I expected and I slightly enjoyed myself at times.
First off, the new Angels were great. I was surprised by Kristen Stewart, she’s the most fun Angel and gives 100% for the role. Naomi Scott was good here too, her character was funny and slightly relatable.
Ella Balinska was also good, she’s portrayed as a true threat.
There were many entertaining moments, for example, the infiltration of the company building which was hilarious and my favourite moment.
The action was decent however it was horribly edited, and it was all over the place which was annoying to watch, especially after some strong action movies recently.
Another big negative for me was the plot, it was truly over complicated and very very predictable. It wasn’t very enjoyable and did also feel pretty rushed.
Elizabeth Banks also threw all the female empowerment message at my face that it became annoying. I know you’re trying to promote feminism and empowerment but when you put that front and centre and prioritise it over a good script and good action, it makes the movie less enjoyable. Almost every male character is made to be evil and hate women.
It’s her fault this movie is worse than it could have been.
Overall, Charlie’s Angels was much better than I thought it would have been. The main 3 Angels worked well together and give good performances. However, Banks script and direction makes the movie a lot worse. It’s predictable and clubs you over the head with female empowerment.
