It's that time again. The Twelve Books Before Christmas. I'm off to the post office with 36+ books. If you want to start the tradition I've included one poem I wrote in each post so you can switch up the names. #longdistancegrandma #lovemygrandkids
The Books Before Christmas 1
By Bibi Belford
‘Twas 24 days before Christmas and all through the house,
Ruby was good, but not quiet as a mouse.
The Santas were placed all around the house with care,
Cuz’ Ruby was hoping Santa soon would be there.
Ruby was calling and waving her arms,
Hoping to get more food with her charms.
And no one was snuggled all safe in their beds,
Poor Mommy had visions of a night filled with dread.
When what to her wondering eyes did appear,
But a box full of books from Grandma Bibi, so dear.
There were big ones, little ones, and skinny ones, too.
And then in a twinkling Mommy knew what to do.
“Settle down Ruby and let’s take a look.
Before bed each night you can pick out a book.
We’ll unwrap it, and read it, but then you must sleep.
‘Cuz Santa is watching to see if you peep.”
And laying a finger aside of her nose,
With a book in her hand to the chair she arose.
And to Ruby and Daddy she gave a quick whistle,
And they flew to the chair like the down on a thistle.
And when the book was finished, she turned out the light,
Saying, “Merry Christmas to all and to all a Good Night.”
