I approach construction most of the time with my football brain, and the two are not too dissimilar. Although, as a General Contractor I feel like a Coach instead of a player, managing the game/project. Pre Construction/Drawings = Game Plan, subs/suppliers/tradesmen = players, owners = owners (they pay you, make them happy, “just win baby” - Al Davis), Architects/Engineers = Offensive/Defensive Coordinators. As the Coach of the game, your constantly making the necessary adjustments to beat your opponent to win, and make it look good while your doing it, like the faux timber beam by @bkdomestic in this new Kitchen to match the existing 1810 timbers in the original farm house. Due to existing conditions the new structural beam could not be upset like it was shown on the drawings, adjustment during game time. Is it perfect, no, I would have preferred it centered on the range, but it was a win for the owner and team.
