Learning....... This year I have learnt a new level of patience with my body, I have learnt to not always compare myself to my best and I have learnt to allow my body to build and grow in its own time.
I have had a struggle with 2019 as my body didn’t start the year in a good place, I had some breathing difficulties going into my first stage race, I ran @sciacchetrail feeling the backlash of my breathing and racing a three day stage race but then I regained myself ready for @maxi_race in Annecy where I surprised myself and performed to my best or what I thought was my best....... After this race I struggled again with fatigue and then suddenly got hit with an extreme ear infection that lasted 2 months sooooo as you can tell it’s not been my best year BUT I have learnt!
I have learnt not to compare my current fitness levels to Annecy Maxi race as that was my level then and my body is not the same now so how it performs, grows and strengthens will be completely different, I have learnt to just relax and let my body build progressively and how it wants too which I have been doing for @utct .
Next week I fly to SA for my biggest race of the year and do I feel as good as I could be? Maybe? Possibly not? And that’s fine as my focus for this race is to enjoy a new experience, meet new people and spend time with friends in the sunshine ☀️ Here’s to a new adventure and more trail fun!
