The result flatters us.
A below average performance in Stenhousemuir, sees Thistle scrape past Stenny into the last 4 of The Tunnocks Caramel Wafer Cup.
After a strong win, against Morton last week, supporters were out in force, travelling to watch The Biscuit Cup. Although the Biscuit Cup, a strong, attacking side was set out by McCall, and due to that fact one would have expected us to steam-roll the side from League 2, but sadly that was not the case on Saturday.
At moments in the game it was hard to see who was the team in League 2 and who was the team in the Championship. It was a pretty scrappy game with a limited amount of quality on show, until a deflected Reece Cole effort found the back of the net nearing the end of the first half.
At moment you'd have expected the team to push on a go for more, but no. We struggled in the next 10 minutes until half time, and proceeded to continue the bad start until Stenhousemuir found an equaliser, through crossed ball which fell to their striker for an easy finish into the bottom left of the goal.
At the point it could of gone either way, Stenny had momentum but Thistle had the quality. Luckily for us, when Stenny scored their goal, it was like something had clicked in the players' heads. Spurring them on to try to win to the game, and as soon as one came the flood gates opened, handing Slater and Miller goals to finish off Stenhousemuir.
A below-average performance but it got the job done and that's really all that matters. 2 games away from silverware this season: a potential clash against either Rangers Colts, Inverness CT or Raith Rovers awaits us in the next round, the final potentially. Who are you hoping for in the next round? 🏆👇🏻
