Chase Young made big headlines yesterday when he allegedly told TMZ he planned to stay at Ohio State for his senior season. This brought much shock to people across the nation and much excitement to Ohio State fans. A player as dominant as Young rarely stays in school for his senior season, so the consensus was that he would test his waters as a projected top-5 pick in the draft instead of returning to school.
As many skeptics expected, Young clarified his previous comments when he told Sports Illustrated “I’m not worried about the future, I’m just worried about beating Clemson right now.” Whether or not he plans on staying at OSU for his senior year, it’s nice to know that Young’s mind is set on the task of beating Clemson.
Many Buckeye fans would love to see Young in the Scarlet & Gray for another year, but it’ll likely take a lot to convince him away from pro football. Few players pass up the money and opportunities that comes with the NFL, and leaving a year early can make all the difference. All that said, I personally expect Young to forego his senior year for the league, but I’d nevertheless love to see him back on the Buckeyes in 2020.
